Users of the international terminal of the Simón Bolívar Airport in Maiquetia reported and shared an image this Monday where they noticed the unusual fall of the boarding and disembarkation bridge at gate number 27, which had been reopened eight days ago.

According to passengers on Copa Airlines Flight CM 222 from Maiquetía to Panama, a noise was heard and the boarding and disembarkation bridge could be observed falling.

Sources from the Maiquetia Airport confirmed the failure of the structure, referring to the fact that it was recently reopened and that “it has structural details because it had been out of use for some time.”

«The jetway failed and went down completely when the Copa plane was still there. Fortunately without consequences. That walkway was recently enabled. It was out of operation for a while and hence the failures,” explained personnel from one of the companies that provide service to the airlines at the Maiquetía Airport, who requested the reservation of their identity.

According to the Maiquetía International Airport Institute (IAIM) account on part of the commitment to guarantee an airport service of excellence.

Sources from the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) explained that the failure in the boarding and disembarkation bridge “was addressed immediately and did not affect operations in Maiquetía.”

As reported REPORTUR.mx, the Government of Nicolás Maduro deals a hard blow to Spanish airlines operating in Venezuela and has applied a 100% increase in the price of fuel that foreign airlines must pay. (Maduro punishes non-Venezuelan airlines with more expensive fuel)
