A tropical wave and trough south of Haiti keep low alert of downpours to 14 provinces of the Dominican Republic where rains will increase as the day progresses and may change from moderate to strong, with thunderstorms and gusts of wind in the afternoon and early evening.
Temperatures will feel cool and pleasant in mountain areas. The great Santo Domingo woke up today with a mist that covered the city and made visibility on the streets and avenues difficult.
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that, due to the situations climatological in the south of Haiti, in the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor and El Gran Santo Domingo, the downpours locals from the early morning hours.
Meanwhile, this rainfall will increase as the hours pass to move to other locations such as Flints, BarahonaBahoruco, Elías Piña, San Juan de la Maguana, Azua, Peravia, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Puerto Plata, with downpours which can be moderate to strong, thunderstorms and gusts of wind in the afternoon and early evening, product of the humidity left by the tropical wave and the trough.
Due to the rainfall that has occurred and that expected in the next few hours, Indomet maintains the alert meteorological in 14 provinces, while the warning has been raised to 13, due to possible flooding of rivers, streams and ravines, as well as urban and rural flooding.
