Army report on trafficking of undocumented immigrants in five months

He Army of Dominican Republic (ERD) reported today that it has made available to the Public Ministry to 206 people, including civilians and soldiers, for traffic of undocumentedduring the period between 17 August and December 30, 2024.

The people sent to justice were arrested during operational carried out by patrols of the Army in different provincescorresponding to the ERD infantry brigades, in which they have been detained haitians undocumented.

• During August were presented to the Public Ministry 15 people per traffic of foreigners undocumented30 in September57 in October, 51 in November and 53 until December 30.

Among those presented to Public Ministry the alleged figure leader of a network of traffic of undocumented in the southern region of the country, identified as Félix Leonardo Alcántara Severino, known as Leonel or the President, detained along with two other men, when they were passing through a bus with 70 Haitians with irregular immigration status in Azua.

Also includes Diogenes Rafael Vásquezin charge of Hotel La Altagracia in Montecristiin which they were detained 83 Haitians without documents, who were housed in that place, to be transferred from there to different locations, according to reports.

The detained in these and other operations carried out in different provinces by patrols of the Armytransported foreigners undocumented in different types of vehicles such as buses, minibuses, trucks, SUVs, two- and three-wheeled motorcycles, and automobiles.

In the provinces of AzuaElías Piña and San Juan, belonging to the 3rd. Army brigade, were detained and 100 people were brought to justice during the aforementioned period.

In Santiago and La Vega, corresponding to the 2nd. brigade there were three submissions and one in the 7th, which includes the provinces Duarte, Puerto Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Mirabal Sisters, María Trinidad Sánchez and Samaná.

While in the area of responsibility of the 4th. brigade, which includes the provinces Dajabón, Montecristi, Santiago Rodríguez and Valverde, the arrests totaled 77, while another 25 correspond to the provinces from Barahona and Independencia, from the 5th. brigade.

He General Commander of the Armymajor general Jorge Iván Camino Pérezhas reiterated that all those who get involved in illegal actions related to traffic of undocumentedwill be made available to the Public Ministryfor due process of law.
