“It is an honor that they have selected us as remedy takers and it is an opportunity that we do not plan to miss.” This is highlighted in statements to Expansión by the CEO of W2M, Gabriel Subías, who recognizes that “the merger of Iberia and Air Europa is a great operation for us, but also for the country.”

World2Fly, an airline owned by Iberostar that competes in this process with Iberojet, Avianca and probably Plus Ultra, currently has five aircraft, all of them long-haul: three A350s and two A330s. Another unit will soon be added to these and the group claims to have two more in its portfolio.

“We have a fleet plan and a viable project that the council is very aligned with. We also have a very solvent group behind us,” emphasizes the manager, who adds that “we are technologically prepared and we have the necessary platform” to absorb the business from which Air Europa is divested. If the requested routes are obtained, World2Fly would grow in one year what it planned to do in five.

At the group level, Subías reveals that “at the end of May we had accumulated a growth of 36% and in terms of reservations we are 27% above last year. This makes us think that we will be close to budget and, even, we could exceed it.” The forecast of the W2M management was to grow by 26% in 2024, reaching revenues of 2,738 million.

As reported REPORTUR.comPlus Ultra, for its part, has signed an agreement to incorporate five long-haul aircraft with which it wants to boost its routes to Latin America and Africa, basically from Madrid. The company will receive the new aircraft within 18 months. (Plus Ultra will add 5 aircraft to fly to America from Madrid)
