Santiago de los Caballeros May 30, 2024.- The National Police reported that after constant investigation and search work, the well-known criminals Carlos Rafael Rodríguez Báez “Carlitos” and Jairo de Jesús Estévez Rodríguez were captured, identified as leaders of the armed group that last Friday the 24th carried out an assault on the branch of the Reserve Bank, located in the La Fuente Fun shopping plaza, in the Barranquita sector of this city.
The capture of “Carlitos” and Jairo de Jesús occurred when they were traveling along Estrella Sadhalá Avenue, Padres Las Casas sector, in a Toyota Prado brand vehicle. When they were seized, an illegible, presumed brand and serial number rifle was seized. model CM901, caliber 5.56mm and 273 capsules of various calibers.
In addition, 10 pistol magazines, 5 instruments for inserting ammunition into the magazines, a rifle stock and a rifle comb, two leg loops and two pistol bags were seized.
Delivery
While in response to the call of the authorities, Gregorio Núñez Polanco, alias “El Niño Pepe,” voluntarily surrendered. The latter appeared before the office of the CibaoCentral Regional Director, General Juan Bautista Jiménez Reinoso, through journalist Orlando Reyes.
Break-in
In the continuation of the investigative process, in a raid carried out by a police contingent, accompanied by representatives of the Public Ministry and the Canine Unit, in a commercial establishment, owned by “Carlitos”, a white Nissan brand vehicle, model NV, was seized , plate No. L422579.
The detainees along with the seized evidence will be made available to the Public Ministry to continue with the corresponding investigations.
