The Cuban government’s bet is to make use of Cuba’s political closeness with China and Russia to reach the levels in tourism it had before the pandemic, when the sector represented the second line of the island’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). For this reason, he has highlighted three actions that will activate tourism from China, among them, the arrival of Flights from the Asian country; The next fair will be dedicated to activating this market and, thirdly, the ease of visa to enter the island.
The Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, pointed out that, “the expectation is to have many more clients, many more passengers,” and added that they have “three good news” for this market. The first has to do with the reopening of direct Air China Flights from Beijing to Havana via Madrid (Spain), as reported by Spanish News.
A second piece of news is that the next International Tourism Fair in Havana will be dedicated to China to show Cuban traditions. “It is no coincidence that the topic to which we are going to dedicate it is traditions in Cuba, because we want to show Chinese tour operators and Travel agents all the cultural wealth that our country has,” García indicated.
And third news is that Chinese tourists will have an easier time entering Cuba with the exemption of visas with ordinary passports starting this month. “All this creates conditions to consolidate tourism relations between both countries and fills us with enthusiasm and expectation because we are clear that we are going to go for more,” the minister assured Xinhua.
Cuba is working hard to recover the tourism sector and one of its strategies is to encourage the Chinese market as it has done with Russia, which has become one of the island’s main markets.
As reported REPORTUR.mxWithin the framework of the International Tourism Fair (Fitcuba), the Cuban government announced that this May it will implement electronic visas through the “Evisa” platform, in addition to lowering costs to facilitate the entry of tourists to the island. Thus, it distances itself from what Mexico has been doing with visas and cases of mistreatment of travelers by Immigration. (Cuba distances itself from Mexico and provides electronic visas to tourists).
