The Cuban government’s bet is to make use of Cuba’s political closeness with China and Russia to reach the levels in tourism it had before the pandemic, when the sector represented the second line of the island’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). And third news is that Chinese tourists will have an easier time entering Cuba with the exemption of visas with ordinary passports starting this month. “All this creates conditions to consolidate tourism relations between both countries and fills us with enthusiasm and expectation because we are clear that we are going to go for more,” the minister assured Xinhua.
Cuba is working hard to recover the tourism sector and one of its strategies is to encourage the Chinese market as it has done with Russia, which has become one of the island’s main markets.
