The tree of Christmas of the Rockefeller Center arrived in New York City on Saturday, marking the start of the holiday season in the Big Apple.

He fir 74-foot Norwegian ship was transported to the Center Manhattan Plaza to be placed with the help of a crane. It will take 8 kilometers (5 miles) of lights with more than 50,000 multicolored LED bulbs to wrap around the tree, which measures 13 meters (43 feet) in diameter.

A journey of 225 kilometers
