Royal Caribbean Group, Carnival Corporation and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings have increased their commitment to destinations in the Caribbean and Alaska that will set sail this summer.
Therefore, in 2024, 202 ships will sail in the Caribbean, an increase of 8% compared to last year. In Alaska, the number of boats sailing this summer has increased 9.3% since last year. Rising supply in both regions is contributing to the summer price decline, according to Reuters.
Many lines are sending ships to Alaska and the Caribbean that would otherwise have sailed in the Red Sea. However, due to continued attacks by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, operators are rerouting ships.
Prices are down 21% compared to the same period last year for Royal Caribbean’s seven-day itineraries in the Caribbean and Bermuda. Meanwhile, prices are down 12% for Norwegian and 11% for Carnival for similar itineraries.
In Alaska, Carnival itineraries in July and August are 20% cheaper than last year. Royal Caribbean sailings to Alaska are 6% cheaper in July and 12% cheaper in August than last year.
