Prominent critics groups have celebratedmost recently, from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, so let’s hope all is not lost for others nominations.
Snub: Many directors
Where do we start with this? Certainly, when only six are nominated, there are going to be some exclusions important, but the absences were glaring, including RaMell Ross of “Nickel Boys,” Denis Villeneuve of “Dune: Part Two,” Jon M. Chu of “Wicked“, Mohammad Rasoulof from “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” and Jesse Eisenberg from “A Real Pain.”
Snub: “sing sing“
A nomination for Colman Domingo from “sing sing“, does not seem enough. Although it would have fit well in the best drama category, the most striking thing is the exclusion of Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin. This former inmate was a revelation in the movie about incarcerated men who participate in a theater program.
Snub: June Squibb

Snub: Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep She has been nominated 34 times for the Balloons (including his Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017) and yet somehow his charming performance in “Only Murders in the Building“didn’t take her to the awards this year.
Snub: Ryan Reynolds
