Hotel investments in the Dominican Republic continue to grow. Every year the number of Hotels that open in different destinations increases, so the need for workforce training increases.

That is why the Inclusive Collection hotel chain, part Of World of Hyatt, from the Hotels Sunscape Dominicus La Romana and Sunscape Coco Punta Canahave begun promoting the training and integration into the labor market of young people from the towns where they are located.

According to Pablo Jaureguizar, general manager of Sunscape Dominicus, every day it is being “very difficult” to have trained personnel in the sector, because there are more Hotels, but fewer professionals in the area.

He highlighted that the complex promotes internal growth, greater participation of women and training by departments that allows staff to grow.

Another social responsibility project is an inclusive program that consists of the training and inclusion in the labor market of young people who neither work nor study or undergo any training (NEET).

This program, carried out by the Sunscape Coco Punta Cana, is focused on young people between 18 and 24 years old, according to Maxaida Marte, general manager of the hotel. The “NEETs”, recruited with the help of a local NGO, once trained will be hired.

Environmental responsibility

The brand, according to its executives, focuses on reducing the environmental impact, promoting the proper use of waste, creating a culture of recycling and caring for natural resources.

Part of these efforts led them to be winners as “innovative hotel” in terms of recycling, in a contest where more than 10 Hotels in the Bayahibe area participated.

This hotel in La Romana is also distinguished, according to its general manager, by having adequate use of water and energy, with a treatment plant and the use of solar panels.

Unlimited fun

Both Hotels have been in operation for a few months since their opening, the Dominicus on December 10 and the Coco on November 30. With an average hotel occupancy of 70%, they focus on unlimited fun, all inclusive, without the use of bracelets and areas designed specifically for adults and others for families.

At the Dominicus, one hour and 20 minutes from Santo Domingo, there are 854 rooms, with a great gastronomic variety with seven specialty restaurants and one located on the dock where people who are not staying at the hotel can enter.

Edilenia Devarez, sales director of both Hotels, explains that what distinguishes the one located in Bayahibe is that it also has a wide range of entertainment and amenities for everyone. It receives visitors of about 20 nationalities, including locals.

A “high investment” was made in this hotel, according to its executives, which includes more than 600 completely renovated rooms, new themed restaurants and an expansion of the main buffet.

As for the Sunscape Coco, it has 1,059 rooms, 403 for adults only, and the rest for families. It has 14 restaurants and what makes it special, according to Matthias Hohner, regional commercial vice president for the Dominican Republic and Colombia, is that it is only 10 minutes from the center of Punta Cana and has the second largest nightclub in the area.

Both Hotels have slides, water parks, fun areas for teenagers and children, fun painting classes for children with their parents, among other activities.
