Sunscape Dominicus La Romana wins first place in recycling contest - Tourism news

The Hotel Sunscape Dominicus La Romanaobtained first place in the tenth edition of the La Romana Recycling Contest.

The second position corresponded to Casa de Campo Resort & Villas and third place went to the Hotel Hilton La Romana.

The celebration was carried out within the framework of World Environment Day, by the La Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association (AHRB) and the La Romana Bayahibe Tourist Cluster (CTRB), where the entities reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability and in order to promote waste reduction through adequate management and good environmental practices.

“The objective of this contest is to instill in the participants prevention criteria in the generation of waste. In addition, we seek to motivate them to adopt a culture of recycling and commit to proper waste management, implementing the valuable concept of the 3Rs: reduce, recycle and reuse,” he commented. Ana García-Sotocaexecutive director of the AHRB.

The event was held at the Multiplaza La Romana Shopping Center and had the participation of 10 teams that presented impressive creations made with various materials such as: plastics, glass, papers and cardboard. The works were evaluated under the criteria of originality, harmony, presentation, durability, usefulness and labeling.

The jury was made up of Roberto Martínez, representing the CTRB; Antonio Martorell, representing the AHRB; Cesarina Aquino, director of IDARD; Nicole Sánchez, Marketing Coordinator of Multiplaza La Romana; and Lorena Hernández, director of Proactiva.

The creations will be donated to local schools to promote the culture of the 3R’s. In addition, awareness workshops will be held to promote sustainable practices and individual responsibility in waste management.

The AHRB will continue its commitment to the region through educational campaigns and awareness workshops aimed at different groups in society, promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about the importance of individual responsibility in waste management.

The contest was sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Mitur), popular BankCibao Savings and Loans Association, Santa Cruz Bank, Banreservas, Imperial Tobacco La Romana, National Car Rental, Universal Insurance, Mapfre Salud ARS, Roman Savings and Loans Association and Multiplaza La Romana.
