The low cost airline, Sky Airline, moved 825,000 passengers between January and March of this year, an advance of 11% compared to the same period in 2023. Of the total amount, 559,000 were domestic flights and 266,000 international flights.
In detail, on domestic flights Sky Airline recorded an occupancy rate above 84% during the first quarter of the year. Thus, one of the strategies deployed to obtain these results was the increase in frequencies. In this way, it made 3,800 sections and reached 147 weekly frequencies on average.
Solar July, Manager of Strategy, Network and Alliances of the low cost, explained that, among the most used routes are Cusco, Arequipa and Piura, which represented 46% of the domestic passengers transferred. He noted that he has also observed “a significant growth” in destinations like Juliaca, of 183%, moving 34,000 passengers to this city.
In international flights, the airline executed 3,800 flights, increasing its sections by 29% compared to the first quarter of 2023. In this segment, it obtained a load factor of 81%, allowing it to capture around 10% of the international market.
Although the route with the greatest demand was Santiago de Chilean increase was observed Punta Cana and Cancun. Specifically, Sky transported 63,000 travelers to both destinations on 364 flights, exceeding by 31% the users transferred in the same period of 2023. Of this total, 28,000 traveled to Punta Cana and 34,000 to Cancun.
New routes
The airline recalled that it opened new routes from Lima to destinations such as Sao Paulo and Montevideo. From July 2023 to January 2024, it connected 36,000 travelers to the Peruvian capital from or to both destinations. In detail, it transported 27,000 passengers to the Rio city in 179 sections during the first quarter of 2024, registering an occupancy factor of 81%.
For the executive, Peru represents one of the most relevant strategic markets in the region, having connections with seven countries on the continent such as Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, among others. “We aim to contribute to the interconnectivity of the nation, fulfilling our purpose of making the sky available to all Peruvians in a safe, reliable and sustainable way.”, he pointed out.
