Security in Puerto Plata is reinforced due to the boom in the tourism sector – Tourism news

A total of 125 new police officers will reinforce surveillance, patrol and citizen security tasks in Puerto Plata in the face of the great boom in tourist activities.

This was confirmed by the commander of the National Police based in Puerto Plata, General Jorge Luis Galan Guerrerowho guaranteed that the uniformed officers immediately began working on crime prevention.

“Although Puerto Plata is one of the safest provinces in the country due to the effective work of 24/7 preventive patrols, the arrival of these reinforcement police officers who were distributed in different locations is a good thing for us,” he said.

He thanked the director general of the law enforcement institution, Ramon Antonio Guzman Peraltafor adding agents to “The Bride of the Atlantic” which is a tourist destination of international importance, according to the Nuevo Diario.

“As is well known, Puerto Plata is currently the main destination for cruise tourism in the entire Caribbean area, as transatlantic ships arrive here every week bringing thousands of visitors on board,” he said.

Galán Guerrero praised the effectiveness of the joint patrols carried out by police officers assigned to the Northern Regional Directorate and personnel from the Puerto Plata Air Base commanded by Brigadier General Manuel Abad García Lithgow.

He said that the perception held by businessmen, merchants and representatives of different social segments in Puerto Plata is that due to the great work carried out by the military and police, security is guaranteed.
