This Monday, Samaria Angulo Sala, who served as Solidaridad Tourism Secretary (Playa del Carmen), and who held the position of interim municipal president in 2018, passed away after the departure of Cristina Torres.
According to unofficial data, the municipal official would have lost her life due to colon cancer, an illness from which she had been convalescing for several months. Just this Sunday she published a message on social media referring to Father’s Day. The municipal official’s health was delicate and this had caused her to be absent from various tourism events, such as the International Tourism Fair (Fitur).
Samaria Angulo was the daughter of Mario Angulo Flota, former magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of Quintana Roo and wife of Gerardo Ortega Otero, former state official. Her brother is the notary Miguel Mario Angulo Salas. Various authorities, members of political parties and members of civil associations have expressed their condolences through social networks, after learning the unfortunate news.
Among the condolences are those of Governor Mara Lezama; Lili Campos, municipal president of Solidaridad; Martín de la Cruz, general secretary of the CROC in the state; and Andrea Lotito, vice president of the Riviera Maya Hotel Association, among others.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, in 2023 Samaria Angulo promoted the musical concerts scheduled in the tourist modules, social networks and the tourist guides of the secretariat. “This is an additional plus to diversification, when tourists are here they find out about these events and will enjoy them,” Angulo Salas (RIP) commented at the time, as reported by Noticaribe.
