Royal Cairbbean is reportedly considering changing the curfew for children on cruise ships, following complaints from some guests, especially on its Icon of the Seas cruise ship, said Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales and service.
Freed said adult guests are unhappy with the loud and disruptive behavior of children around them. “The Icon is fantastic, but at the pool bar, there are kids who are splashing drinks,” Freed said, as reported by Travel Pulse.
She added that at one of the party spots she saw children crawling between the legs of adults at midnight while trying to dance. Currently children can stay in public areas until 1:00 a.m. and this may be changed to 9:00 p.m., as some adult guests find it difficult to have fun when they have noisy children around.
Royal Caribbean CEO Michael Bayley, meanwhile, acknowledged the problem and said he would be willing to review his curfew policies for children. “While he emphasized the fact that Royal Caribbean will remain a family-friendly brand that welcomes children, he also added that we must make sure we respect adults,” he said.
As reported by REPORTUR.usRoyal Caribbean’s second-largest cruise ship, Utopia of the Seas, arrives at Port Canaveral in Florida to sail the Caribbean. The new ship will be destined for Bahamas voyages, with 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday sailings. (Royal Caribbean’s Utopia calls Florida for short voyages.)
