Prominent Spanish, Venezuelan and Dominican investors have expressed their satisfaction with President Luis Abinader’s ratification of David Collado’s appointment as Minister of Tourism.
Among these major investors are Encarna Piñeiro, president of Grupo Piñeiro; Gabriel Escarrer, president of Grupo Meliá; and Adriana Cisneros, president of Grupo Cisneros, as well as members of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES).
Among the notable messages in X is that of Escarrer, who praised Collado’s work as Minister of Tourism after having carried out “an impeccable job and being an example of public-private collaboration,” as reported by Proceso.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxFollowing his appointment, Collado said that the Dominican Republic expects to reach 11.5 million visitors this year. (David Collado is confirmed as Dominican Minister of Tourism).
“As the President of the Republic expressed, the country is on the way to 11.5 million visitors. We have had the best month of January, February, March, April, May, June and July in the history of tourism, January to July, 6 million 968 thousand, that is, almost seven million in seven months. Our projections are to exceed 11.5 million visitors. As the President expressed, in 2023 more than 30% of the Dominican Republic‘s economic growth was on the shoulders of tourism, more than 9 billion dollars in foreign currency entered our country as a result of tourism,” Collado told Noticias SIN at the time.
