The Dominican Republicrepresented by the ambassador to the United States, Sonia Guzmán, and the administrator of the POT Bill Nelson, celebrated the country’s entry into Artemis Agreementthrough which you can collaborate with the research and exploration peaceful space, including Moon and Mars.
The signing ceremony took place against a backdrop of growing international cooperation in the space field between the United States and the Dominican Republicreaffirming its commitment to a safe and responsible space explorationas well as with the development of the space industry, the diplomatic mission explained in a statement.
On October 14, a high-level meeting between the signatory countries of the Artemis Agreement was held in Milan, Italy, within the framework of the International Astronautics Congress (JAC). The event formalizes the entry of the Dominican Republic to the agreementannounced at the beginning of October.
At this meeting, crucial issues regarding the implementation of the agreement’s principles were addressed and the country was welcomed as a new member of the group of signatories, marking its first active participationwhere he highlighted his interest in contributing to the governance and development of the space industry, the diplomatic mission explained.
The country is part of the more than 40 signatory countries of the project, started in 2020 to regulate the exploration spatial and closely linked to the ambitious plans of the POT for a permanent presence of humanity in the Moon.
“This is a historic step in our commitment to international collaboration in the investigation and exploration space. It is not only a scientific and technological milestonebut it represents a future where the Dominican Republic can contribute to shared goals of peace, sustainability and innovation beyond our planet,” were the words of ambassador Sonia Guzmán.
Guzmán highlighted that “by joining this global effort we are expanding opportunities for our youths Dominicans in science, technology and economic development“, includes the statement shared by the diplomatic mission, in line with what Nelson said when welcoming the Dominican Republic to the agreement last October 7th.
The ambassador added that this pact also opens the opportunity for the country to work with the POT in the development of a legal framework that establishes the necessary parameters to attract investments in the areaas well as private companies that place communication satellites, agricultural research and other services, which places the Dominican Republic among the countries eligible to receive this type of investments.
While the administrator of the POTBill Nelson said, “We are proud to welcome the Dominican Republic in the signing of Artemis Agreementwhile we expand the exploration of space to all nations.
Nelson highlighted that the Dominican Republic has made important strides toward a shared future in space and is now helping to guide the exploration space for Artemis Generation.
