In section 6 of the Mayan Train project called “the rolling jaguar,” near the Xul-ha community in Othon P. Blanco, Quintana Roo, a metal column collapsed, leaving two workers injured.
On Monday at 6:30 p.m., the workers were apparently assembling the metal columns, but one of them began to creak and then collapsed, injuring two of the workers, one seriously when the structure fell on his legs. However, the health status of none of them is still known.
So far, neither those in charge of the Maya Train nor government authorities have reported on what happened. This accident would be the third so far in 2024 and the second in less than a month, according to Infonbae.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxthe atypical rains that have occurred in Yucatan affected a recently built bridge that is part of the works of the Mayan Train, in the municipality of Maxcanú, 50 kilometers from the city of Mérida. (Cancún: atypical rains in Yucatan affect the Mayan Train bridge).
The bridge’s railing supports were damaged and a section of railings came loose when the foundations and concrete holding them gave way, causing walls and concrete blocks to fall off, Infobae reported.
