During the six years of the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), only a few big businessmen increased their fortunes, but among them, one was Fernando Chico Pardo, the largest shareholder of Grupo Asur, administrator of several airports in Mexico, mainly the from Cancun, among other businesses.
Chico Pardo is already part of the 10 richest people in Mexico and it is estimated that in recent years he has managed to increase his fortune by 220%. In 2018, he had a fortune estimated at USD 1 billion, and now he has USD 3.2 billion, reaching an increase of 220%.
This businessman is known as the man “who controls the sky”, since the group manages airports such as Cancún, Cozumel, Huatulco, Mérida, Minatitlán, Oaxaca, Tapachula, Veracruz, Villahermosa and San Juan, Puerto Rico, as reported by Infobae.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, Chico Pardo owns 21.02% of Asur shares, according to data from Marketscreener, and has been at the head of the company since its creation. The businessman has maintained a fortune of $2.6 billion in 2023 according to what was reported by Forbes. Chico Pardo has been an advisor to companies such as Grupo Financiero Inbursa, Sears, Grupo Industrial Saltillo and Sanborns.
