The Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, congratulated the two new Olympic medalists, Cristian Pinales and Yunior Alcántara, who secured a bronze medal in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games 2024.

Pinales and Alcántara performed a great feat on Wednesday morning for RD (the afternoon in France) with their feat. That bronze could change color if they win their next semi-final fights.

These are two medals from one day, something that happened at the 2012 London Olympics, when Félix Sánchez (400 metres hurdles) and Luguelin Santos (400 metres flat) won gold and silver on 6 August of that date.

“I’m hoping they’ll keep changing colors,” said Sports Minister Francisco Camacho about the two new fighters, who already have RD$8,000,000 guaranteed. Meanwhile, “I told them their checks were already there.”

Athletes who win silver will take home 10 million pesos and those who win gold will receive RD$15,000,000.
