A teenager was shot dead in the head on Father’s Day in the Quita Sueño community, Haina municipality, San Cristóbal province, while trying to defend his brother during an argument over money.
The deceased was identified as Jonathan Montero Pimentel, 14 years old, who was living with his family at the time of his death.
The father of the minor, Jovanes Montero, He told Diario Libre that the perpetrator was a soldier who owed money to his other son, aged 18. He said that when his son asked for the money, he became aggressive and said he would not give him anything.
Hours later, the soldier arrived accompanied by another person at the residence of the Montero Pimentel family.and hit the young man with a pistol. This action motivated Jonathan to go to the scene with the intention of defending his brother, at which point, without saying a word, the agent shot him in the head, according to his father.
Mr. Jovanés indicated that the soldier turned himself in to the police authorities, however, he fears that he will be released given the connections he has.
His relatives hope that justice will be done and that the whereabouts of the other person who was with him will be found.
Jonathan was described as an exemplary young man who dreamed of finishing his studies to give his family a better life. He was in his third year of high school.
The teenager’s body remains in the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF)He will be laid to rest at his residence and buried in the municipal cemetery of Quita Sueño.
