This Wednesday, the first 360 International Tourism Fair begins in Montevideo, Uruguay, an event on Smart Tourist Destinations, which invites people to learn about the latest advances in tourism management and innovation linked to the development of smart tourist destinations.

Gustavo Cabrera, general director of the Department of Economic Development of the Municipality of Montevideo, said: “This is its first edition and in 2025 we will have the second. “It is an important event to position the Uruguayan capital in the calendar of international fairs.”

And he detailed: ¨Already in 2022, Montevideo is selected by the Inter-American Development Bank as one of the 10 destinations to receive technical assistance through the Future Tourism programin order to contribute to the competitiveness and sustainability of the tourism sector in Latin America and the Caribbean through the adoption of digital and emerging technologies.”

Over two days, June 12 and 13, the event will focus on five axes: innovation, technology, sustainability, governance and accessibility. “The first thing we look for is for the fair itself to be consistent with these themes,” explained Cabrera,

Among the confirmed exhibitors are: Diego Gonzalez (Ibero-American Network of Accessible Tourism), Alejandra Cruz García (UN Tourism), Ana Maria Palacio (Rural Tourism Medellín), Mariano Guarino (Google, eCommerce Account Manager), Nicolás Posse (Civitatis, Business Development Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay), María Laura Romero (TurismoCity, COO – Business Developer & Product Manager). “It will be an honor to have them and listen to them,” said Cabrera.

Finally, the director highlighted: “Montevideo is divided into eight municipalities and we will have a central activity highlighting the tourist potential of each location.”
