Within hours of defining whether the Bases Law was approved or not, Bartolomé Abdala, head of the La Libertad Avanza block, confirmed that, finally, the Government agreed that Aerolíneas Argentinas along with two other public companies be withdrawn from the opinion of the ruling party of the Base Law.
This was reported by the senator who, among other changes that were introduced to the project, detailed that “in article 7 it is proposed to eliminate Aerolíneas Argentinas, Correo Argentino and RTA (Radio and Television Argentina) from the annex.” This is the article that declares “companies and societies wholly or majority owned by the national State included in Annex I” “subject to privatization.”
After more than 11 hours of session with the oratory of several senators, the vote was taken in the Congress of the Nation, with a tie of 36 affirmative and negative votes, for which the Vice President of the Nation, Victoria Villarruel, broke the tie with their positive vote and the Base Law was approved.
In December, when Javier Milei took office as president of Argentina, he fulfilled his campaign promise of “gifting” the flag airline to its employees so that they could manage and operate it without help from the National State, as reported REPORTUR.mx.
