The vacation ownership segment has made efforts in recent years to stay ahead of the new Travel trends of the new generations, becoming a popular option for younger consumers.

Mexico is the country that has evolved the most, thanks in part to the fact that large Hotel chains have joined this segment. Currently, 65% of what is sold is the concept called “Travel Club,” which is more flexible than the original timeshare or vacation ownership.

This is reflected in the growth that the sector has had in Mexico, where the Mexican Association of Tourism Developers (Amdetur) indicates that vacation ownership closed 2023 with several developers presenting growth of between 10% and 15% compared to 2022.

Recently, during the Amdetur 2024 Congress, members of the Association exchanged ideas on the priorities for transformation and adaptation of new vacation models for the following years.

Part of what makes this segment more attractive for the new generations is the flexibility that this option offers when choosing places, dates of stay and the opportunity to visit new or different destinations that offer a unique Travel experience.

To continue this trend, Amdetur partners have prioritized the digital integration of their products, so that they offer more customization options in favor of customer experience and process simplification.

The Association currently represents 90% of the developers and investors in the vacation ownership sector in Mexico, and the growth of the segment at a national level reflects its members’ commitment to innovation and evolution in response to changes in lifestyle and vacation preferences of new consumers.

As reported by REPORTUR.mxthe Association of Professional Vacation Rental Managers (APAR) announced that, as a result of the Tourism Law that requires them to be regulated in order to provide accommodation services and comply with tax payments, it will be necessary and important for them to have a voice and vote at the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), since this industry also attracts investments and tourists to the destination. (Cancun: vacation rentals ask to participate in CPTQ promotion).
