Santo Domingo. – The Cap Cana Marina will celebrate the White Marlin Tournament 2024 edition on Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th of this week, with the participation of about three hundred fishing enthusiasts in more than 35 boats, representing Puerto Rico, United States, Brazil, Italy and the host Dominican Republic.

Silvano Suazo, director of the Cap Cana Marina, indicated that this Thursday the 23rd the registration of boats and fishermen will take place, while Friday the 24th will be the first day of fishing. The second and last day is scheduled for Saturday the 25th with the awards ceremony at night.

“Every year we green them with the best of spirits, hoping that everyone has an incredible adventure here at Marina Cap Cana. This year’s White Marlin Tournament will be memorable. A new feature we will have is our own application (APP), where you can easily register and see how the markers adjust with each run,” Suazo said in a press release.

He added that Salvador Egea, from Puerto Rico, will be the tournament director and that every night there will be events for family members and part of the team who are not anglers.

“We really enjoyed organizing this event and appreciate having you all here sharing your moments of glory,” he highlighted.

The event will be dedicated to the capture and subsequent release of the White Marlin, however, the Blue and Sailfish species qualify for points. Every White Marlin duly released in accordance with the event rules will earn 300 points. Sailfish and Spearfish contribute 200 points each.

The boat with the highest score in the Sonar and Non-Sonar categories will receive prizes for the first three places. Likewise, the best individual fisherman, the best lady and the most outstanding Junior will be recognized. In total there will be 12 winners.

A committee of three judges made up of Pete Manuel, Luis Infanzón and Rafael Caicedo, will receive the reports until 7:30 at night. Fishermen will have one hour to release the species and on the first day the lines will be thrown into the water at 7:30 in the morning until 5:00 pm The closing for the second day will be at 4:30 in the afternoon.

This Thursday at 6:00 pm, the captains’ meeting will take place with the aim of reviewing the rules and asking any questions to the tournament management. Afterwards there will be a cocktail at the Cap Cana Marina Captaincy. On Friday visitors will be able to enjoy a barbecue and on Saturday there will be a gala dinner for the awards and closing ceremony.
