The presidential candidate of the People’s Force Party (FP), Leonel Fernandez, said this Sunday that he spoke by phone with the re-elected president, Luis Abinader, to recognize his victory in these general elections.
“Tonight I called President Luis Abinader by phone to recognize his electoral victory and wish him success in his administration,” the former president wrote on his X account.
After the Central Electoral Board (JCE) saw the first bulletin of the votes, Abinader came in first place, with 59.24%; while Fernández obtained 26.91% of the votes, and Abel Martínez, of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), only obtained 10.63 of the votes.
Abe Martínez also called Abinader, to wish him “luck” in his second presidential term.
“President, good evening… everything is good, everything is good, seeing the results of the Board and well, the call to wish you luck in this new assignment that you have with the country,” Martínez told the president.
When delivering his victory speech at the National House of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Abinader referred to the gesture of his two contenders in these general elections.
“I just received a call from Abel Martínez, with whom a few minutes ago he showed his commitment to the country; and he congratulated me. I also received a call from President Leonel Fernández, recognizing our victory and congratulating me,” he said.
“I want us to give them and the other candidates who competed with us a round of applause for the democracy of our country,” he added.
