Las Vegas will have a second airport that will serve Flights with single-engine aircraft, multi-engine aircraft, helicopters and during peak seasons it will support Harry Reid International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the second airport for Las Vegas, with a cost of USD 310 million, and construction will begin this fall. The new terminal will be located 30 miles from the city.
Las Vegas receives around 41 million tourists a year and is estimated to have received more than 57 million air passengers by 2023, after hosting several high-profile events such as the Formula 1 race and the Super Bowl.
In addition, it has national professional sports franchises in hockey, American football and women’s basketball, and is in negotiations for the Oakland Athletics baseball franchise, according to Travel Pulse.
As reported by REPORTUR.usby late 2023, Clark County was planning for the new airport for Las Vegas and projected that the construction time would be 14 years, meaning it would be ready by 2037 and would be developed in three phases. (Las Vegas: construction of the new airport will be completed in 14 years).
Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport is considered inadequate to meet the demand of a world-class destination, so the county needs a more efficient airport system, experts said at the time.
