The Hotel Kimpton Las Mercedesthe chain’s big bet Iberostar for the Hotel industry in Santo Domingo, specifically for the accommodation offer of the Colonial Zonehas celebrated its formal opening, which included the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of all its employees and executives. (The Kimpton brand will operate the Iberostar in the Colonial Zone).
Kimpton Hotel Las Mercedes is the first Kimpton property in the Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in the Dominican Republic. Housed in a meticulously renovated historic 16th-century structure, the transformation was led by renowned architect Rafael Moneo and the designer Pepe Deuderoaccording to Diario Libre.
This renovation has given the Hotel a new face, fusing history with modernity to create a unique experience for its guests, according to the new establishment.
“With 130 rooms and spacious suites, Kimpton Las Mercedes offers an authentic taste of the indoor and outdoor life of the vibrant city of Santo Domingo. The Hotel is distinguished by its collaboration with local artists and artisans, incorporating colorful design elements that reflect the spirit of the city in each space,” they say.
They add that Kimpton Las Mercedes presents curated gastronomic concepts that will delight the most discerning palates. Zola, a gourmet restaurant serving fine Italian cuisine, and El Patio, a relaxed space among oak and mango trees, offer unique culinary experiences that capture the essence of the place.
