José Marte Piantinipresident of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), highlighted that the increase in air connectivity, which will translate into greater consolidation of the Dominican Republic as a reference in commercial aviation in the region.
The JAC will establish greater air connectivity for the country, consequently increasing the flow of travelers at airport terminals. This was reported by the president of the organization, Marte Piantini, when announcing the approval of new commercial Flights by airlines. Sky High Aviation Services and Air Caraibes, operations approved under the code-share modality, to fly on the routes Santo Domingo/Pointe á Pitre/Santo Domingo; Santo Domingo/Fort de France/Santo Domingo and Santo Domingo/cayenne/Santo Domingo.
Air Caraibes is a French operator, authorized to provide air transportation services for passengers, cargo and mail, from France and the French Antilles to the Dominican Republic. While Sky High Aviation Services is a national air operator that offers national and international air transportation services.
These operations began on May 24 of this year; in which Sky High Aviation will be the effective operator and Air Caraibes, the market operator.
Regarding the new approvals, Marte Piantini pointed out that they will facilitate the access of Dominican travelers to key destinations for the country’s air connectivity, “our objective is to solidly expand the air connectivity of the national territory.”
He added that this expansion reflects the commitment of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to increase the connectivity of the Dominican territory in the region.
Likewise, the JAC approved the request to amend the operation permit of Evelop Airlinesto include the path Barcelona/Punta Cana/Barcelona in its operating permit. This operator plans to operate the aforementioned route starting June 25 of this year, in aircraft type Airbus A330-343 with capacity for 388 passengers, with a frequency of one Flight per week, on Wednesdays.
It should be noted that, from January 2023 to March 2024, Evelop transported 110,340 passengers in 325 air operations carried out on the routes contained in its operating permit, as well as on the route, Barcelona/Punta Cana/Barcelona, which was previously approved. under special permission.
It is important to highlight that the load factor of Evelop Airlines, on the Barcelona/Punta Cana/Barcelona route, operated under special permit, was up to 99%, moving 8,340 passengers from July to September 2023, being the only air operator to register operations. on said route.
The request for a special permit was also approved. Air Canadato operate cargo Flights on the routes toronto/Miami/Bogota /Punta Cana/Toronto, since the 1st. from June to 1st. September 2024 and on the Toronto/Miami/Lima/Punta Cana/Toronto route, from September 3 to October 23, 2024, with a frequency of one Flight every Wednesday.
According to the Statistics Division of the Air Transport Department of the Civil Aviation Board, Air Canada moved 555,425 passengers in 2,930 air operations, from January 2023 to March 2024, on the routes authorized in its operating permit, as well as as, on routes operated under different modalities.
