The rector of the Technological Institute of the Americas (Itla), Rafael Féliz García, received a courtesy visit from the president of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), Guido Gómez Mazara, in order to coordinate joint actions in favor of increasing knowledge and skills for the implementation of new technologies.
According to a press release, Féliz García expressed that the joint collaboration of both institutions reinforces the vision that the Technological Institute of the Americas continues to become a training institution, both in higher educationas in continuing education that seeks to reduce the gap of digital inequality.
- Gómez Mazara said he was surprised by all the technological advances that are produced there, in addition to the efforts made to educate and prepare young people in the field of technology.
After listening to explanations about the process of manufacturing of some products, in the Wind Tunnel area, the president of Indotel He stated that this institution is vital for the Dominican Republic be established as a center for the digital transformation in the country, and so that many of the products produced become international.
He also chatted animatedly with scholarship students by said institution, and invited them to continue training, and expressing that the telecommunications regulatory body is willing to continue collaborating in their training.
During the visit, the incumbents took a tour of the facilities of the Itla headquarters in Boca Chica, visiting the Automatic Controls, Molds and CNC laboratories, and the Academic CSIRT.
As well as the Huawei, Multimedia, Software, Video Games laboratories (Solutions Factory), the Santo Domingo Cyber Park, AirlinK and the NAP of the Caribbean.
Féliz García thanked Gómez Mazara for his visit and said he was very excited about everything they can do together to benefit technology in the country. “ITLA has always had Indotel as its ally. I know that now with more strength we will continue to do great things for the technological development of the Dominican Republic.”
Both institutions expressed their willingness to collaborate in whatever is necessary to continue with technological development in educational training and to establish priorities that help expand the mobility of the student community of Itla.
To the president of Indotel He was accompanied during his visit by the executive director, Julissa Cruz, the members of the Board of Directors, Juan Taveras Hernández and Fausto Rosario Adames. Also the director of the Office of the President, Alfredo López Ariza and the delegate of the Office of the President, Linette Ureña.
On behalf of the Itla Present were: Pedro Pablo Castro, Academic Vice-Rector; José Bernard, Administrative and Financial Vice-Rector; and Winston Paulino, Director of Cabinet.
Agreements
In the period 2020-2024, the Technological Institute of the Americas (Itla) and the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), have established at least five inter-institutional cooperation agreements and conventions, which consist of guaranteeing access to training opportunities and technological training for women and men, both young and adult, in different locations throughout the country.
