President Luis Abinader indicated that the Italian government agrees to eliminate the requirement of visa Schengen to the Dominicans.

He said that during his visit to that country he discussed the issue with President Sergio Matarella, who agreed with its elimination for Dominicans.

He noted that he has the support of Portugal and Spainand assured that he will talk with France and Germany to proceed with making the request.

«I do not want to make the formal proposal (to the European Union) until the majority of countries are in that direction. I hope to also talk with France and Germany in these aspects and if we already achieve it, then we will already be presenting that proposal to eliminate the Schengen visa,” he said.

Abinader, during LA Semanal, recalled that there are only three Latin American countries that require this visa to enter the European Unionand the Dominican Republic is one of them, according to Diario Libre.

Please remember that the Schengen visa is an entry permit to the countries of the European Union for visits of a maximum duration of 90 days in a period of 180 days.

Generally, the issued visa allows you to visit any Schengen State during the same trip, within the validity period.

The Schengen visa does not allow you to stay in a Schengen country for more than 90 days, nor to access a job or exercise a trade, business or profession.
