Infotep stops work for its training center in the Guarocuya hotel in Barahona – Tourism news

The National Institute of Vocational Technical Training (Infotep), reported the suspension of the adaptation work started in the facilities of the Guarocuya Hotel in Barahonathrough an official letter addressed to the Corporation for the Promotion of the Hotel Industry and Tourism Development (Corphotels).

In the document, the institution adds that the real estate agency alleges that its interests have not been satisfied by the previous tenant, so Infotep proceeds with the delivery of the keys to the same and requests Corphotels to assume the security and care of the Hotel, in order to to continue safeguarding this State property.

It is recalled that the Hotel Guarocuya would be used as a tourist training center. In October 2022, the president Luis Abinader decided to begin the procedures to transfer the administration of the historic Guarocuya Hotel in Barahona to Infotep.

The interest expressed by the president was that the Guarocuya Tourist School Hotel Technology Center will be installed, to train the human capital that will work in the development of tourism in the Pearl of the South and the entire region.

He added at the time that “now Barahona is going to have these facilities, not only for the Hotel part, but it will also help in the technological part because in the development of the entire tourist area, personnel with these capabilities will be required.”
