Despegar became one of the first agencies to adopt Iberia’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) in Latin America, which will strengthen the penetration of this system in the region. Since its launch on March 14, this initiative has revolutionized the way travelers access content and special rates from the Spanish airline, providing a significant advantage over its main competitors in the industry. The key benefit of the Spanish airline’s NDC lies in its ability to offer access to all its content and special rates, providing a more personalized and transparent shopping experience for travelers.

Despegar has observed a significant increase in Iberia’s market share on its platforms. NDC adoption currently stands at 33% since launch, with steady monthly growth. This figure is expected to exceed 50% during the first year of implementation.

“At Despegar, we are passionate about collaborating on innovative projects with our business partners to enhance our value proposition. The success of Iberia’s NDC in Latin America is a testament to our constant search to offer experiences that enrich people’s lives,” said Juan Valverde VP Global Air of Despegar.

For his part, Miguel Henales, director of Digital Business and NDC at Iberia, stated: “For us it is great news to continue adding more and more options so that our clients in Latin America can access differentiated conditions and more benefits when it comes to fulfill your Travel dreams. “We want to be the preferred option for Latin Americans who want to fly to Spain, Europe or even beyond, and the alliance with Despegar is essential to offer the best value offer and experience to the customer.”

In Latin America, Iberia connects 18 cities in 16 countries with Europe. Furthermore, the airline has continued to increase its network of destinations, which allows Latin American clients to have more than 100 options at their disposal to Travel to Spain, Europe and the rest of the world.
