Google Wallet adds hotel room keys to mobile

If hotels have this option, now the Google Wallet allows access to the room on the mobile phone, so that a further step is taken in the complete autonomy of the traveler.

The new key works exactly like credit or debit cards that can be loaded onto a mobile phone. To open the door to a room, things are done exactly like paying a debt: just bring the mobile phone close to the door and it will open automatically, if it matches the guest’s room.

Google is actually late to the introduction of this service, which is already available on Apple’s iOS system, but in any case, given that Android and Google users are in the majority, this option can now begin to be developed in earnest.

In fact, this new feature will allow guests to check in to a Hotel without going through reception: the Hotel simply needs to check their identity and that they have the appropriate reservation or an account or card to charge the costs to, depending on their policies, so that the traveller receives the key immediately, without having to go to reception.

Some prestigious Hotel chains already have automated doors linked to digital cards, but in many cases travellers have to download the chain’s app, something that will no longer be necessary with Wallet and the number of apps on mobile phones will not have to be expanded.
