A US citizen, who apparently lived in a house in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood, became the second case of monkeypox to occur in Playa del Carmen.
The patient was reported at the intersection of 10th and 38th avenues, because he had a case of dehydration and fever, so paramedics from the Red Cross went to the area to provide first aid. Upon arrival, they noticed that he had all the symptoms and also rashes on his body.
The patient was identified as Vogel, 58 years old, originally from the United States and resident of Playa del Carmen, who was transferred to the General Hospital. Unofficial data indicate that this person no longer presents a risk of being contagious to other people, since he has had the disease for several days.
With this case, this person becomes the second person infected with monkeypox, since the first was an Argentinean named Fabián, 28 years old, who last Thursday was diagnosed with the disease at the General Hospital of this city.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxthe health authorities of Holbox warned of suspected cases of monkeypox, due to the large number of tourists arriving to the destination from different parts of the world, since eight cases have already been confirmed in the state. (Alert in Holbox due to several cases of monkeypox).
