For the fall, Travel deals like those on Expedia are on the rise, and with them searches by Canadian travelers, which increased by 83% for Cancun. Other popular destinations in Mexico for Canadians include Mexico City (79%), Playa del Carmen (58%) and Tulum (56%). But U.S. travelers also showed an increase in their searches for Tulum (70%) and Cancun (35%) this season.
According to Expedia’s Fall Travel Outlook report, domestic Travel is consolidating as a priority, driven by seasonal celebrations and national holidays. Mexico City (157%), Hidalgo (97%) and Morelos (51%) are the most sought-after destinations for the Grito de Independencia weekend, thanks to their rich mix of culture, history and traditions that can’t be missed during the celebrations.
Fall is ideal for deal-hunters, as airfares are often down as much as 15% compared to summer. In many destinations, it’s the “shoulder season,” the sweet spot between the summer tourist boom and the off-season, when the weather is still pleasant, crowds are thinning, and Hotel prices are more affordable.
According to Expedia data, the week of October 22 is the ideal time to fly with an average savings of up to 1,700 Mexican pesos. In contrast, the week of November 18, 2024 is the most expensive to Travel in the fall, making it a week that budget-conscious travelers might want to avoid.
As part of the autumn festivities, the celebration that most represents Mexico worldwide, the Day of the Dead, cannot go unnoticed. For this season, the most sought-after destinations according to Flight searches are Puebla (67%), San Miguel Allende (25%), Oaxaca (17%), Michoacán (14%) and Mexico City (3%).
Beach destinations are not just for summer getaways, they continue to be Mexican travelers’ favorite spots for the fall season. Some of the trending beach destinations include Tulum (15%) and La Paz (5%).
It is worth noting that Mexicans are increasingly drawn to the rich cultures and vibrant cities of Asia and searches reached an all-time high for Seoul (+280%), Osaka (+75%) and Kyoto (+65%) are among some of the fastest growing Asian destinations for Mexican travelers.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxthe Mexican Caribbean destinations that are grouped in Quintana Roo have been growing so far this year at a rate below that of the Dominican Republic, which thus demonstrates that they have overcome events such as Americans traveling more to Europe, or the supposed crises with airplane manufacturers, or even natural phenomena. (QRoo is surpassed by the Dominican Republic in tourist growth this year).
