The South Future Foundation and the Genera ITM Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding to join forces in the sustainable development of the province of Flints. The main objective of the alliance is to contribute to improving the quality of life of the population in the province through the (5) five main lines of work that cover: the promotion of sustainable tourism, the comprehensive training of people, the promotion of strategic local ventures, the protection of the environment and the incentive of spaces for dialogue and community participation.

For this reason, the president of the Sur Futuro Foundation, Melba Segura from Grullón, He pointed out that, “if someone asks me which is the place in the Southern region where the needs are most visible and reflected in the faces of its inhabitants, I tell them: “that place is Pedernales. That’s where the work is needed. In the Oviedo Lagoon, in Juancho, in Aguas Negras and in the Mulito basin, which, if we do not pay attention, we will not have water.”

«Having Genera ITM as an ally to improve the quality of life of the people of that region is to turn into reality the dream that I have had for 22 years fighting from Sur Futuro to improve the living conditions of so many abandoned people, who only because of “Because they lived far from the capital and had few votes, they were always the last, if they even remembered them,” he highlighted.

For her part, the president of the Genera ITM Foundation, Alicia Mateosexpressed his commitment to working together with Sur Futuro to guarantee a sustainable and prosperous future for the communities of Pedernales and future generations.

Lines of action

a) Co-creation of an action plan that allows defining programs or projects, their scope and goals to achieve the stated object.

b) Promote sustainable tourism with a focus on communities, which consists of generating spaces for dialogue with communities, public and private institutions, civil society, to define the fundamental aspects that make up sustainability, and how it contributes to the tourism offer and local economy.

c) Develop the comprehensive training of people, with technical training in tourism, the promotion of culture that rescues local knowledge, the integration of youth with training in life skills and the strengthening of an environmental culture that transforms habits towards The sustainability.

d) Promote strategic local ventures, through the co-creation of good practices, technical and financial support that provides opportunities for decent jobs with fair income, social security and comprehensive development of people.

e) Promote environmental protection, which guarantees access to a healthy environment for present and future generations, through the promotion of environmental education and culture, the integrated management of urban solid waste and the restoration of ecosystems, among others. .

f) Encourage spaces for dialogue and community participation for the discussion of public policies that contribute to the generation of new planning and organization models based on local development.
