The tourist destination of Puerto Plata continues to strengthen with the arrival of cruise ships through the tourist port Taíno Bay.
Last Tuesday, August 27, a cruise ship arrived with hundreds of passengers to enjoy the benefits of the so-called Bride of the Atlantic.
The director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodriguezsaid that what is happening with the Dominican Republic regarding cruises is historic.
“We are talking about 110% growth, but we are already predicting that we will surpass the goal of three million by 2024, at the end of 2024,” said the director of Apordom.
“It will be reflected in how in a very short period, we are talking about four years, we have basically tripled the number of cruises that we had projected to the Dominican Republic in its entire history over the seven-year projection,” said the official.
Rodríguez reported that in 2019, one of the best years for tourism, one million one hundred thousand passengers had arrived, and that by 2023 the country had closed with two million 300 thousand visitors, according to the Hoy Mismo program.
