The Academy of Sciences of the Republic Dominican (ACRD) celebrated the investiture of Dr. Arnaldo Espaillat Matos as a Number Member of the Commission Sciences of Health, in an event held last Thursday, November 21, 2024 at its headquarters in the Colonial Zone.
He Dr. EspaillatMedical Director of the Espaillat Cabral Institute since 1997 and recognized ophthalmologist national and international, presented his entrance speech entitled: “Application of the Artificial intelligence in the Medicine and the Ophthalmology“.
This event is a recognition to his outstanding path professional, his commitment to innovation and his contribution to the advancement of ophthalmology in the Republic Dominican and Latin America.
Distinguished career
With a wide experience academic and professional, Dr. Espaillat He is a graduate of the Barraquer Institute in BarcelonaSpain, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Vitreo-Retino-Choroidal Pathology and a Master’s Degree in Anterior Segment Pathology.
In addition, it has a Fellowship in Retina and Vitreous. He has led important organizations such as the Latin American Association of Cataract, Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgeons (ALACCSA-R), the Association Dominican of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ADOCAREF), the Society Dominican of Ophthalmology and the Association Dominican of Ophthalmological Centers (ADOCOFT), among others.
Among its distinctions are the prestigious awards “International Ophthalmologist Education Award” and “International Scholar Award” from the Academy American Ophthalmology (AAO). As an author, the Dr. Espaillat He has co-edited and co-authored three books in the area of ophthalmology: Cicafe: Cataract Surgery with Femtosecond Laser, New Trends in Cataract Surgery, and Diagnostic Imaging in Ophthalmology.
Likewise, he has published more than 30 scientific articles in specialized journals and has given more than 270 conferences at the international level. national and internationally, contributing significantly to knowledge and practice ophthalmological.
