Cuba is trying to recover tourism with the Russian market, since it already occupies third place for the island and is the one that continues to increase along with the Canadian market.

The Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García, during his recent visit to Moscow, indicated that they expect to receive 200,000 Russian tourists in 2024 and 500,000 “in the coming years,” as reported by Expreso.

According to official data, until April of this year, more than 88,000 Russian visitors had arrived in Cuba, double the number who arrived in the same period of 2023.

Likewise, the Cuban Ministry of Tourism has indicated that Varadero and Cayo Coco are the destinations with the highest occupancy, with prospects of continuing to grow, since Russian tourists want to come to Cuba.

As reported REPORTUR.mxAlthough Cuba and Cancun have had a growth of 4% and 7% respectively, in tourist arrivals during the first quarter of this year compared to 2023, they are still below the percentage figures of the Dominican Republic, which reached 12%, according to data by ForwardKeys. (Cuba: Colombian visitors give tourism a break).

Likewise, the figures show that Cuba has lost 1% of its air capacity, but the arrival of Colombian tourists has increased by 221%, according to Diario de Cuba.
