The Sitcpla union has reported to the Labor Inspection against Air Europa the increase in injuries and sick leave of cabin crew (TCP) due to the overweight that the airline allows in the hand luggage compartments.

The union complained, pointing out that “the lack of control of hand luggage by the company and the overloading of the bins (upper compartments) that this entails,” as stated Preferential.

And he added that “it is the daily overloading of the bins and an alarming increase in injuries resulting from overexertion when closing them.” Therefore, the union has asked the cabin crew to “help them document the high number of casualties and injuries.”

Likewise, Sitcpla has indicated that the measure that the occupational risk department had already requested in 2017 to correct this problem of “the three models of bins installed in the B737 and B787 fleets, the risk for the crew was unacceptable when these are loaded with the maximum weight authorized by the manufacturer.

But the union states that “as we all know, these measures have been breached since, in 2020, during the pandemic, passenger packages stopped being labeled.”

As reported REPORTUR.us, Iberia recently submitted to the European Commission an update of remedies for approval of the purchase of Air Europa, where it plans to give up 52% of the transatlantic routes, which means there will be about 5,700 annual Flights, for which Avianca, World2Fly and Iberojet They are competing to keep the business. (Iberia will give up up to 5,700 Flights a year to Air Europa).
