The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and the International Council of Monuments and Sites (Icomos) approved the proposal presented by the Dominican Republic to create a buffer zone of the Colonial city.
The approval of the proposal was made within the 46th meeting of the Committee of Heritage World Cup, which took place in New DelhiIndia.
Mubarak He said that the approval represents a great achievement for the Dominican Republic and the management of the Ministry of Culture headed by Milagros Germán.

The perimeter of the buffer zone of the National District (Ordinance 03-2011) begins at the intersection of George Washington Avenue and Paseo Presidente Vicini Burgos, continuing to Independencia Avenue and Doctor Delgado and Moisés García streets.
