Avianca and Aeromexico have announced new international routes to Cartagena starting next December and February 2025 respectively. Avianca will fly from Guayaquil to Cartagena and Aeromexico from Mexico City.

Avianca will operate two Flights a week between Cartagena and Guayaquil starting December 17. “At Avianca, we have been connecting these regions with Colombia and the rest of the world for decades, and opening new doors for more tourists to get to know our country,” said David Alemán, Avianca Sales Director for Colombia and South America.

For its part, Aeroméxico will fly to its third destination in Colombia, connecting Cartagena with Mexico City. The Mexican airline has requested permission from the Civil Aeronautics to begin operating the service on February 20, 2025, with a daily frequency on Boeing 737 MAX 8 and/or Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

“For this reason, it is a source of pride for us to be offering new connectivity and greater access to our clients with more direct destinations. With the entry into operation of these two new routes, our clients will have an offer of 10 direct destinations from Cartagena, and 28 non-stop destinations from Medellín,” Alemán added.

Avianca also announced a route from Medellín to Sao Paulo starting next December 3, with 3 weekly frequencies between Medellín and Sao Paulo.

As reported by REPORTUR.coIn July, Avianca requested authorization from Aerocivil to open two new direct international routes with its Ecuadorian subsidiary to Cartagena, from the cities of Sucre and Guayaquil. (Avianca opens two direct routes from Ecuador to Cartagena).
