The Casa Maya Hotel is being remodeled discreetly and without major disruption. This is one of the most emblematic lodging centers in the Hotel zone of Cancun and one of the few hotels that were built in the 1980s that are still standing.
Just last May, BBVA México announced that it had granted a $26 million loan to the Monterrey-based company Potexa for the remodeling of the property, which is located next to the flagpole and next to Playa Langosta, one of the most visited public beaches in Cancún.
So far, Casa Maya is a 4-star Hotel with just over 320 rooms and has been closed since last year, shortly after a fire broke out in a palapa of the Hotel, forcing the evacuation of guests and Hotel staff.
According to the data collected, the Hotel employees have been relocated to other accommodation facilities since the Hotel was closed.
As reported REPORTUR.mx50 years ago Cancun opened its first 24-room Hotel, the Hotel Bojórquez, inaugurated by Alberto Bojórquez Pérez, who will be honored next Saturday, July 20. This historic milestone will commemorate half a century of organized hospitality in Cancun. (Milestone in Cancun: 50 years since the opening of the first Hotel)
