The legal part of the Trust for the Cancun Hotel zone will be ready by the end of this month, said the Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, who stressed that in recent weeks exhaustive efforts have been made with various sectors involved, including the Secretary of Finance and representatives of the Hotel and commercial sector and residents of the area.
“We are working so that once this trust is published and decreed, it can begin to operate immediately in the Hotel zone of Cancun,” said Cueto Riestra.
“This effort not only seeks to secure federal funding, but also to establish a solid foundation for maintaining and improving the infrastructure and services that make Cancun a national and international benchmark,” he added, referring to the plan that will allow the city to unleash its full potential.
The new trust, he said, represents a joint effort to optimize the operation and maintenance of the Cancun Hotel zone, in which decisions will be made “in a collaborative and efficient manner.”
The Secretary of Tourism pointed out that, although the Trust is not yet ready, paving, cleaning, garden pruning, median maintenance and other maintenance work are currently being carried out with a state budget.
Sergio León Cervantes, president of Entrepreneurs for Quintana Roo, believes that the trust granted by the state government for the administration and payment of services in the Hotel zone of Cancun should be expanded to destinations such as Bacalar, Puerto Morelos and Tulum, since they are the largest contributors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that goes to the Federation, as reported REPORTUR.mx.
