With the arrival of more Flights and the increase in frequencies, it is expected to have an excellent summer season throughout the Mexican Caribbean, stated Andrés Martínez, general director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ).
“A pretty good summer season, actually, considering the situation we are experiencing today in the world of aeronautics, we know that airlines in particular are experiencing technical difficulties; “We are redoubling efforts to bring to the main markets: the United States, Canada and Mexico,” he noted.
The most important thing to consolidate this promotion, he acknowledged, is to maintain and increase connectivity with the main destinations, and in that sense good news has been generated, with extensive growth, both in Cancun and at the Tulum International Airport. A JetBlue Flight from New York was recently inaugurated at this airport and as of June 26 there are Flights with Panama, through Copa Airlines.
“We expect a good summer season, it will be a year of many challenges, but we will get through it,” said Martínez. He added that the expectation is to close the summer season with numbers similar to those of last year, with a predominance of national and American tourism.
In addition, with a view to the winter season, one more Flight is expected from Frankfurt, Germany, starting in November, and for December, the resumption of direct Flights to Cancun from Brasilia has been confirmed with Gol airline.
As reported REPORTUR.mxCancun airport has seen a decrease in the number of passengers mobilized on seven of the 10 main routes operated by the terminal, possibly due to the opening of the new Tulum airport, Viva Aerobus and Volaris for leaving the Airbus 320 and 321neo on the ground for engine inspection. (Cancun airport loses passengers when Tulum airport opens).
