Cancun: Nearly 1,000 police officers will ensure the safety of tourists

The Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit of the municipality of Benito Juárez plans to assign 980 police officers for the security of tourists and residents during the summer season.

“On behalf of the Secretariat (of Municipal Citizen Security) we will have approximately 980 elements destined to provide security to both the inhabitants and the tourists who are going to visit us,” said Ernesto D´amiano Sumuano, director of the entity. In addition, he pointed out that they will be added to those of other security corporations of the state and federal governments, as reported by Sipse.

The places where the agency’s surveillance will be reinforced will be in bars with security operations and filters at km 25 and at km 2.5 of the Hotel zone of Cancun. Sumuano commented that the filter called “safe passenger” was established to prevent crimes.

“It consists of elements of the secretariat boarding the unit, doing a small inspection and now we will also implement so that they accompany the bus for a while, get off, and do it in reverse.”

As reported by REPORTUR.mxfor Easter, the physical and property integrity of citizens was guaranteed, police were deployed in Hotel zones, beaches, cenotes, parking areas, bus terminals, maritime terminals, nightclubs, mass events, restaurants and bars, family recreation places, archaeological sites, among others with a large influx of public. The holiday season was reinforced with more than 300 police officers, 64 surveillance units, in addition to the support of all security forces.
