Cancun: hoteliers already have a list of requests for Josefina Rodriguez

With the announcement by the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, on the appointment of the new head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, hoteliers will seek to meet and request her support to resolve issues such as electronic visas and immigration and customs services.

Jesús Almaguer Salazar, president of the Association of Hotels of Cancún, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, said that they trust that the new secretary will have a different vision and will listen to them.

“She is young and has a different vision of how to do things in the Ministry of Tourism. We know that she is close to the current Secretary of Tourism (of Quintana Roo), Bernardo Cueto, and that is an opportunity to get closer. We trust that she will listen to us and support us in achieving the urgent issues,” said Almaguer Salazar, as reported by Noticaribe.

Hoteliers will seek to modernize visa access for markets arriving in Mexico, improve the first impression of visitors through Immigration and Customs, and speed up entry into the country.

As reported by REPORTUR.mxSheinbaum announced this Thursday that Josefina Rodríguez Zamora will be the new Secretary of Tourism of Mexico. Sheinbaum highlighted that despite her youth, she has her full support due to her experience: “She is a brilliant young woman originally from Tlaxcala and since 2021 she has collaborated with our colleague Lorena Cuéllar as Secretary of Tourism of Tlaxcala,” Sheinbaum declared at the time. (Josefina Rodríguez will be the Secretary of Tourism with Sheinbaum).

“If you ask any Secretary of Tourism in the country, they highly recommend Josefina, she is a creative young woman. Today she is the vice president of the Central Zone of the Association of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico (Asetur) and that is why I am very pleased to present the youngest member of the cabinet, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, as Secretary of Tourism,” said the president-elect at the time.
