The Posadas Group would be selling again its 196 hotels with 14 brands, which offer a total of 30 thousand rooms, a large part of which are from third parties that put them into operation. In addition, it would be selling the operating company, the vacation club and the call center, the loyalty program and the EPR business with Oracle. There is now the option of selling the company in parts to different buyers since this way there are more options to close the operation.
In 2019 the group made its first attempt to sell and the French chain Accor was interested. However, it did not materialize, since the French company did not want the complete package of companies that make it up, so the sale failed. Now, the group would be willing to sell in parts according to the advice of its Rothschild bank, as revealed by Darío Celis in his column in El Heraldo.
The Azcárraga family has 42%, where Gastón Azcárraga Tamayo’s widow, María Luisa Andrade, has 20% and the children, María Luisa, Cecilia, Beatriz, Pablo, Enrique and José Carlos, another 20%. Alfredo Harp and Fernando Chico Pardo, have 53% and 5% of the shares respectively, says Celis.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, the Posadas Group in April began exploring through Rothschild the sale of what is currently the first Hotel chain in Mexico. The sale of Posadas is expected to take place this year, according to El Heraldo de México. (Posadas is looking for new owners and testing the market with Rothschild).
