More than 90% of the tourist infrastructure in Boca Chica were affected by the effects of the Hurricane Berylthe mayor denounced, Ramon Candelaria.

He explained that all businesses operating in front of the Caribbean Sea suffered damage from the strong waves, so he called on the president Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Colladoto come to the aid of the community.

“We currently have too many problems that we cannot address from the mayor’s office, so we need the decisive support of the central government to be able to confront them,” he said.

He stressed that he is seeking permits from the Ministry of the Environment and Tourism, with the aim of obtaining a single authorization for all the surveys and properties that were affected by the phenomenon.

He clarified that they hope that when the infrastructure is repaired, some will not benefit and others will be harmed, but that everything will be done gradually and fairly.

Candelaria said that he had already held a working meeting with all the owners of affected commercial establishments to coordinate the repairs of the buildings.

He added that the mayor’s office is conducting a survey together with the Emergency Operations Center, the National Police, the Ministry of the Environment, Tourism and other institutions, according to Listín Diario.

“We are holding a working group with all these institutions at the Mayor’s Office to obtain an estimate of what we are talking about in terms of budgets,” he said.
